SkyView Free review

Review Standarts
Our main goal is to provide full and useful app reviews. Our authors strictly follow the rules: minimum 15 hours of the real app usage experience or gameplay, test on main Android and iOS versions, test on phones and tablets.

The simplistic controls ensure every user finds their inner astronomer easily. Just point your device at the skies and witness constellations, stars, galaxies, planets, and satellites including the International Space Station and Hubble as they pass through your location. Use the app during the day or during night with the help of night vision (green or red) filters. With its unique augmented reality technology, you can spots stars and constellations even during the day. The app brings a feature call Sky Paths that gives you the opportunity to follow certain objects as they float through space or find them at any given date or time. Another very interesting feature is Time Travel that lets you jump into the past or the future to see what the stars and planets looked like or will look like respectively.

Usability 8/10

The SkyView Free app is extremely easy to use. It doesn't require any intricate settings or detailed customization. All you have to do is open the app and point your phone's camera to the sky. As you pan across the sky, you will see the different stars, constellations, and other objects pop up on your screen in augmented reality. The information for each object will also appear on the screen so you are aware of what you are looking at. The app allows you to capture stunning images of space and share them with friends and family easily. The best part about SkyView Free is that it doesn't require a data connection to work so you can use the app practically anywhere as long as you have a view of the sky.

Cross-Platform Use 7/10

The SkyView Free app is free to install on Android devices. It does not work on devices that don't support augmented reality though. It is not compatible with devices running on other operating systems.

The Verdict

As far as augmented reality apps go, SkyView Free is one of the most entertaining, as well as, educational. It is useful for both children and adults. The design, controls, and interface are user-friendly and deliver exactly what the app describes. It is a lightweight, yet powerful app that offers users a chance to examine and learn about the vastness of space and its various treasures through the lens of your smartphone camera.

With SkyView Free, you can get a glimpse of what our universe brings us and understand the different planets that surround ours in a better, more educational way.
